Socotra is a conservative Muslim culture, and so there are a few things you should be aware of:
- Please do not take photos of women.
- In town and other public places women should wear shorts and long sleeves and trousers or a long skirt. Sleeveless tops are considered offensive. In the privacy of the beaches however they may wear shorts or swim suits.
- Alcohol is a prohibited substance. Tourists are allowed to bring one bottle for personal consumption, but please do not offer it to locals.
